Little Tree Books and Coffee is exactly what its name promises.

As you arrive at Kavalloti Street near Koukaki, you’ll spot wooden tables under the trees, leading into a cozy café filled with books. The air smells of freshly baked tarts and coffee.

This book café was lovingly created by four couples (Dimitris Ananiadis and Evi Gerokosta, Stelios Farfaras and Eliza Lianidi, Takis Katsambanis and Rebecca Hannagan, Menelaos Zaganidis and Eri Stavropoulou), and it makes you feel like you’ve stepped into an elegant library – the only difference being that coffee and food are encouraged-.

At Little Tree Books, your day can start early with coffee and breakfast. Let me explain:

The coffee brand is Taf [I really enjoy this variety], and you can pick your favorite type: espresso, freddo espresso, freddo cappuccino, filter coffee, and more (ranging from €2.80 to €4.20). You can also opt for Greek coffee or other beverages (€2.70-€5), such as fresh juice, herbal tea, matcha latte, hot or iced tea, homemade lemonade, hot and cold chocolate, or the greek “xinonero” (it means sour water and is similar to sparkling water but comes from a Greek spring). Smoothie lovers will be delighted with choices like banana milk, honey, vanilla, and nutmeg, or chocolate, avocado, banana, and almond milk.

When it comes to breakfast, the menu offers handmade sweets like lemon tart (€6) – highly recommended – homemade cakes, chocolate mosaic, yogurt with honey and walnuts or granola, as well as daily dishes or savory sandwiches (with chorizo, pastrami, smoked turkey, or vegan avocado options).

Food prices range from €4.70 to €7.50. If you’re not a morning person or need to head to the office, you can always enjoy a glass of wine or a beer in the afternoon (€5-€7.50). Their wine selection includes Moschofilero, Assyrtiko, Merlot, Xinomavro, along with simple spirits and classic cocktails (€6-€9) which you can pair with cheese and cold cuts platter.

Here are a few tips I’ve gathered over my ten years of visiting:

Sundays get quite busy, so finding a table can be tricky unless you arrive early.
Inside, the maximum sitting time is two hours.
It’s the perfect spot to read your book, finish your work, write your novel, check your emails – the list of things you can do with a laptop or pen and the list still goes on!
The book selection is carefully curated by true literature lovers, all closely connected to Little Tree Books.
Every Thursday at 18:30, there’s a book club (titles are announced on the café's social media).
Book presentations and music events are often hosted (less frequently, but if you catch one, it’s a heartwarming experience as everyone becomes "one big group").

This is a café I wholeheartedly recommend, and I’ll never forget the first time I discovered it: I felt just like Belle when the Beast showed her the library!
